QCC5141 Earplug Reference Design Platform Reshapes a Flagship Audio Experience
The global penetration of true wireless earplugs has increased from 23% to 42% compared to 2019. Based on our research for thousands of users in five countries around the world, sound quality remains the most important driver when users purchase true wireless products. At the same time, features such as a seamless user experience, wear comfort, and long battery life are also becoming the concerns of users.
In order to launch true wireless products that meet the higher requirements of users as soon as possible, we launched QCC5141 earplug reference design platform.
The platform is based on our flagship QCC5141 Bluetooth audio SoC, including earplughardwares, comprehensive software solutions, and debugging tools. It aims at helping to develop the next generation of true wireless devices and make improvements and changes in connection, communication, andinteraction between users and personal audio devices.
Ingenious design, seamless user experience
Users are being familiar with and dependent on true wireless earplugs, and their expectation for usability and usage experience of earplugs are rising. A study showed that audio interruption affected the purchasing decision of nearly a quarter of respondents. The interactivity between wireless earplugs and smart phones and the stability of Bluetooth connection are factors that directly decide the true wireless experience.
QCC5141 earplug reference design platform launched in this time can support our latest Qualcomm TrueWireless Mirroring technology and provide a seamless user experience and better overall connectivity for two earplugs. That is, one earplug is connected to the phone via Bluetooth, the other earplug becomes its “Mirroring”, and the two earplugs can be switched quickly in many usage scenarios.
For example, after removing the earplug that is in the ear and is connected to the phone, users don’t need to do anything, and mirroring earplug can take over the connection to the phone, avoiding the connection interruption of music or voice calls. TrueWireless Mirroring technology also supports the management of a single Bluetooth address. To achieve match, The phone displays only one earplug device although users match two earplugs with the phone.
Integrating an active noise cancellation technology, providing an immersive aural experience
The reference design platform also supports a mix active noise cancellation (ANC) technology. Dedicated ANC hardware is integrated into system chips and supports ultra-low latency transmission of external ambient. Therefore, it can make users immerse in a noise cancellation experience and have a truly natural sense of their surroundings simultaneously.
For example, when users are running in the morning and listening to music, it’s important to hear the sound of pedestrian and vehicles to ensure the safety of them, and they need to be able to hear questions of colleagues while they work in the office.
Listen to HD music and make clear voice calls
Sound quality is still the most important factor. To help meet strict requirements of users for listening to HD music and making clear voice calls, Qualcomm earplug reference design platform installs a Qualcomm aptX Adaptive technology and a cVc echo cancellation and noise cancellation technology.
